Position Description

Job Title: Registered NurseJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to facilitate patient care. The role involves triaging phone calls, managing electronic medical records (EMR), and supporting patient care through various responsibilities, including medication reviews and office visits. This position requires an individual who can effectively organize and manage patient-related tasks and ensure efficient patient flow.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate patient care and manage electronic medical records (EMR) using platforms such as Athena or Epic.
  • Triage phone calls and address nurse-related queries.
  • Follow up on patient care, including imaging orders and biopsies, and manage medication reviews.
  • Check daily schedules for patient volume and prepare necessary patient files.
  • Organize medications for doctors to administer and update prescription refills.
  • Employ appropriate and timely use of tasking in the EHR.
  • Function as the liaison between patients, staff, and physicians, ensuring all patients are correctly identified before providing care.
  • Ensure proper preparation for patient visits, preparing pertinent information as needed.
  • Provide referrals and consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.
  • Check and maintain logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
  • Collect and accurately label lab specimens according to departmental guidelines.
  • Demonstrate telephone triage protocols and document them in the EHR.
  • Schedule appointments appropriately and accurately according to department guidelines.
  • Review and update medication lists in the EHR, demonstrating understanding of prescription control and refill procedures.
  • Enter orders and schedule appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.

Essential Skills

  • Active NJ State Nursing License
  • Associates degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Experience with EMR systems, preferably Athena or Epic
  • Experience in Orthopedic, Pain management, Podiatry, or Muscular/Skeletal fields
  • Strong patient care skills
  • Proficiency in triage and healthcare protocols

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Outpatient experience is preferred
  • Experience in primary care or hospital facility settings is advantageous

Work Environment

This position operates within a supportive outpatient environment, offering the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients through regular visits. The work schedule includes rotations of Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with the requirement to work six Saturdays a year. Physical requirements include strength and mobility for lifting and maneuvering, as well as endurance for prolonged standing or typing. The role offers a collaborative atmosphere with supportive staff and providers, providing opportunities for career growth within a large organization.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Florham Park, NJ.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $50.00/hr.
